Ipad as 'Dynabook'

Many years ago Alan Kay proposed the 'Dynabook' (I shall upload a ppt about this and related things shortly). and Neal Stevenson has (in 'The Diamond Age) a 'Young Lady's Illustrated Primer'.  I developed a bit of this in an article (see also e-book entry and http://www.ariadne.ac.uk/issue49/whalley/) and it seems to me that the IPad (almost) delivers much of this.  The development of apps remains crucial of course but also in the ability to use the latent USB. I am currently starting on a project looking at the use of 'netbooks' in the field and for the development of Personal Learning Environments (to escape the 'hegemony of the VLE'). I shall post the website in a week or so.
